The purpose of our organization is to broaden our knowledge, to aid in the preservation of Depression Era Glassware, and to encourage, assist and educate collectors and the public. Our monthly Meeting is held at Peter's Place Restaurant . (Click on the Restaurant name for a Mapquest locator map.) The address is: 1199 Washington Pike Bridgeville, PA 15017. Telephone: 412-221-5000. We order from a limited menu or have a buffet. Orders are taken from 6:00-6:20PM. Dinner is served at 6:30PM. The Business Meeting starts at 7PM, with our Program following. Please join us for dinner, or come later for the Program. We welcome guests!
What do we do? We learn. We laugh. We have fun! Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month. The time, location, and program are announced in the monthly newsletter. Dinner, at your own expense, is at 6:00 PM. This is a good time to mingle and get to know the other members. At 7:00 PM we have a short business meeting followed by a glass-related program.
We either have a speaker or do a "Show & Tell" discussion. Visitors are welcome at meetings and may join immediately by paying the current years dues. Every meeting offers the opportunity for "Show & Tell, Show & Ask, Show & Brag". Members bring items from their collections either to get information, add to the information about that evening's topic, or to share a good buy.
In December, we meet socially with no formal program or meeting. Just food, fellowship, and fun. Since education is such an important part of what we do, we combine our antique book orders and get a discounted group rate. At the meeting, we have "Book Nook" where members can sell or trade their used books.
We work and plan year 'round for our annual Glass Show and Sale that is held the first weekend in March. If you would like more information about our club, please contact Pauline Miller. Or, for links to other glass-related sites, click here.
Check out our Glass Gallery, it has separate picture collections of past shows, meeting presentations, and lots lots more. We also have a new feature, every other month we will be highlighting a different feature glass company. The first featured company is actually two companies, the Akro Agate and Westite Glass Companies. Come back often to other featured companies.
On August 29, 20010 the third Hidden Treasures Antiques Appraisal will be held at the John Heinz History Center. Members of the Three Rivers Depression Era Glass Society, Pittsburgh Historical Glass Society, and the Pittsburgh Bottle Club will be participating in the event by helping with the appraisals. KDKA will again be filming many appraisals and conducting interviews throughout the event and will then show them during the following months on the Hidden Treasures show. Come to the John Heinz Center for an appraisal or if you can't come to the event, tune in to see some great hidden treasures and you might just see some of your club members as well.
